It can be said that the biggest expectation of the Vietnamese plastics industry is the trade agreements: Vietnam - EU free trade (EVFTA), the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). When these agreements take effect, this means that the export opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises will be more open, the picture of Vietnam's plastics industry will be bigger and brighter.
In the domestic market, the plastic industry in recent years is one of the industries with the highest growth rate in Vietnam from 16% - 18%/year after the telecommunications and textiles. With such rapid development, plastic industry is considered as a dynamic sector in the Vietnamese economy in the near future.
That growth comes from a wide market, great potential and especially because Vietnam's plastics industry is just at the beginning phase of development compared to the world, plus plastic products are promoted for use in all aspects of life include plastic packaging, plastic building materials, plastic household and high technical plastic.
Nationwide, there are about 1,500 plastic enterprises which are under operation. The number of domestic enterprises is still dominated by 85%. Particularly about two segments of construction plastic pipes and building materials resin with nearly 200 operating enterprises. Almost market share of plastic pipe is dominated by two big enterprises which are Tien Phong Plastic and Binh Minh Plastic.
For plastic construction materials, Dong A Plastic (DAG) is a domestic enterprise with 20-25% of the national market share, of which uPVC profiles account for 35-40% of the North.
